To find out which thermal transfer ribbon fits your requirements, you first need to understand the different types and qualities.
The ribbon types and qualities

-
Wax: These ribbons contain a wax-based ink and are commonly used for printing on paper labels and tags. They produce sharp, high-quality prints but are less resistant to abrasion and environmental factors.
-
Wax/resin: Wax/resin ribbons combine wax and resin components, offering better durability than pure wax ribbons. They are suitable for printing on synthetic materials and can withstand moderate exposure to chemicals and environmental conditions.
-
Resin: Resin ribbons are the most durable option and are used for applications requiring resistance to harsh conditions, such as exposure to chemicals, extreme temperatures, and moisture. They are commonly used for printing on polyester and polyimide labels.
-
Textile resin: Used to print durable, high-quality labels on a variety of textile materials, including cotton, polyester, nylon, and silk. The resin ink is transferred from the ribbon to the fabric using heat, creating a permanent, wash-resistant bond. This makes textile resin ink ribbons ideal for applications where durability and resistance to washing and fading are important, such as:
